The student Affairs Department in collaboration with the Student representative council organised yet again another Phoenix Awards Night for their students and staff inclusive.It had in attendance a famous artist (Mayor Kun) who blessed the night with his outstanding performance.Awards were issued to best and hard working students and staff alike based on different categories.
The Charity Club in collaboration with Touch Lives Club and Student Representative Council (SRC) also organised its yearly talent show. Its the third of its kind in the school and lots of students having different talents to present participated and showcased their abilities and gift.It has (8) participants and the Judges had to go through rigorous process in selecting the best amongst them.After many performances, the winner was chosen and issued gift.As always, the talent show was also a means f getting funds for charity work to be done by the club in orphan homes and IDP camps around the country
The Student Affairs Department of Nile University of Nigeria in collaboration with the Student Representative Council (SRC) organized the 2018 Freshers Week for its new and transfer students.
The activities for the Freshers Week included: Orientation Lecture, Picnic, School Tour, Sports Competition, Picnic/Video Games, Treasure Hunt, Movie Night, BBQ, Awards/Concert.
To make this session’s Freshers Week more interesting for the students, the theme of the weeks activities was Game of Thrones. As such, the students were divided into six houses, each with a house captain. These houses were:
House White Walkers.
The houses participated in various activities such as: Treasure Hunt, Tug of War, Basket Ball, Volleyball, Video Games, and much more. Points were awarded to successful houses, and at the end, the house with the highest point was declared the winner.
The Houses all did their best to get as much points as possible and at the end the winner emerged.
House Dothraki came first with 61 points
House White Walkers came second with 50 points
House Lannister scored 47 points
House Stark fourth scored 46 points
House Baratheon came fifth with 37 points and
House Targryen were left behind with only 30 points.
It was an exciting week for the new students and the aim was to welcome them in a way they will never forget.
The first edition Nile Zoo Drink Competition organised by the Student Affairs Department, which had in collaboration the Student Representative Council (SRC), Cuisine Club and Business Club, took place as scheduled on the 11th May 2018.
The Business Plan competition organized by the Student Representative Council (SRC) of Nile University was open to all students to participate. The purpose of the competition was to let students think and come up with a great business plan idea, see the feasibility of their plan and reward them based on their creativity. It has in participation 4 contestants after rigorous screenings. The competition took place on the 11th of April 2018 and after the judges decision and screening on which business plan was the best, they had 3 winners at the end of the day.
The first position winner who won the competition was Adeola Aminat with business name “Catfish Business“, who carted away with N40,000 prize
The second winner was Aisha Usman with business name “The Root Honey” who also got N30,000 as a prize
The third place winner was Aisha Musa Kaibo with business name “The Mystique” who got N20,000 as the third prize
The cash prize they got was to support their business.
The Nile University of Nigeria Student Affairs in collaboration with the Student Representative Council (SRC) and Society of Petroleum Engineers, Nile University chapter, organised a successful blood donation campaign which was sponsored by Sickle Cell Aid Foundation (SCAF) and the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) which held on the 10th November 2017.
It has in attendance Mrs Jemila from (BMRN) Bone Marrow Registry of Nigeria who gave a brief talk on stem cell donation and ways to save lives by being a donor
The event had in attendance as well, the Vice Chancellor, Dean of Student Affairs and other staff of the University.
The Nile University of Nigeria, Student Representative Council, in collaboration with Abuja Adventurers had undergone a hiking at the end of the week. The hiking was amongst the activities organised by the SRC to welcome new students that have just been given admission.
The Hiking was done at one of the famous hiking areas chosen by the Abuja Adventurers; Mount Dragon, which is located at Dawaki Area of Abuja. It recorded a number of participants and was a lovely week to have an interesting adventure. This event was supported by Student Affairs
