One new habit that could change your life
when we go to bed disheartened, hoping that we would awaken the next morning with a fresh
sense of motivation and zest for life. However, we wake up feeling even more discouraged.
The unavoidable truth is that life is filled with reasons to be discouraged every now and then. We
will often face challenges at work, issues with family members, financial setbacks, health
problems and all kinds of stress. The first way to tackle these stressors is to deal with the way
they affect us. Often, we cannot change certain situations but we can change our reactions to
them. One major way to do this is to adopt an attitude of gratitude.
KEEP A GRATITUDE JOURNAL: It is really this simple. Get a small jotter/notebook, and
everyday either in the morning or at night, write down five things you are grateful for. They
could be major things like a new car, good health or successfully completing your Master’s
degree; or “minor” things like the delicious breakfast you had that morning. Every couple of
days, look back on those things you are grateful for, and you would find more reasons why life is
beautiful after all.
